The Week Ahead in Podcasts & Articles: w/c 19th May 2025
Four podcasts in five days - and each one cuts into a different part of the property conversation. Gareth Wax (host, producer, director) and Hamish McLay (conveyancing collaborator) are on all four sessions, joined by a different guest or two depending on the topic. Each podcast has its own focus and audience, yet all four are live, unscripted and conversational. Every episode is recorded and stored on our YouTube channel so nothing gets missed – catch up anytime at https://www.youtube.com/@SpillingTheProper-Tea.
Tuesday 20th May – Property Matters – 1pm
MI Guidance Is No More – Time to Lead, Not Just List
Rowan Waller – known to many as The Property Pen – brings more than twenty years of experience in estate agency to Tuesday’s discussion. Having worked through countless market shifts and regulatory changes, Rowan offers a voice of perspective and calm amidst this latest shake-up.
Wednesday 21st May – IPSA Kind Of Magic – 1pm
When Clients Speak Up, We Listen and Step Up
We continue with Wednesday’s IPSA conversation by focusing on what IPSA members already do to meet client needs - often long before a request becomes formal. Gareth is joined again by Michelle Poller, this time alongside Hamish, in a podcast open to all but directed at search agents and solicitors who work with them. Expect clear examples and an honest exchange.
Thursday 22nd May – Property Quorum – 10am
Who Needs Their Guidance Anyway? – We Can Work It Out
What happens next for agents now that National Trading Standards’ Material Information guidance has been withdrawn? Juliet Baboolal and Chris Gilsenan return to join Gareth and Hamish for a Property Quorum deep dive. Rowan Waller (The Property Pen) is also with us to offer an agent’s perspective. Expect plenty of opinion on what listing legally should now mean.
Friday 23rd May – Cladding Matters – 1pm
They Know the Risk. We Live With the Fear.
With formal sign-off on remediation at Royal Artillery Quays (RAQ) granted by the Building Safety Regulator, residents still have no idea what materials will be used or what exactly will be replaced. Gareth is in the chair, Stephen Day and Sue speak again for residents, and Hamish joins both to discuss the silence and the lack of clarity. One of our toughest yet.
