Editor’s Podcast: Mortgage service levels have affected brokers in 2024 With Silas J. Lees
Mortgage lender service levels have been one of the biggest sources of frustration for advisers and brokers in 2024, according to the sales director of the Cherry Forum.
Founded by Donna Hopton, the forum has provided an online community for brokers and advisers for many years, giving them a voice and a place to share their thoughts with their peers.
In this episode of the FT Adviser Editor's Podcast, Podcast, Silas Lees, founder of WiggyWam and sales director for the Cherry Forum, talks about service, the Budget and mental health: three huge topics advisers have been discussing over 2024.
Lees commented: "One of the biggest things we are finding is that it is really difficult [for brokers] to get hold of people at providers.
"It is difficult to get the information they need, and that results in delays
"This results in increasing stress levels for the client and the adviser.
"It comes down to that desire to actually care for the people that are bringing you business."
He said he did not know whether this was more of an endemic problem since 2008, with high-street lenders closing their branches since the credit crisis, but it appears to be getting worse.
"All these things add up to a lack of trust in an organisation", he added.
