Women in Conveyancing Step Out for Charity

Women in Conveyancing Step Out for Charity
Across the property industry, people often meet each other through files, emails and the occasional conference. Day to day work keeps everyone busy and the pace of conveyancing rarely slows down for long. Yet every so often an initiative appears that reminds us that the sector is also a community of people who care about the wider world around them.

One such initiative is the upcoming charity hike organised by Women in Conveyancing, which is inviting professionals from across the property sector to step away from their desks for a day and take part in a walk designed to raise money for charity.

This is not just any walk either. The challenge involves climbing Mount Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales, which rises to around 1,085 metres above sea level. For many participants it will be a genuine physical challenge, although one that brings with it spectacular scenery and a strong sense of achievement at the summit.

The aim of the event is simple. Participants will come together to complete the Snowdon hike while raising funds for good causes, with the organisers hoping to reach a fundraising target of around £2,000. What makes the event particularly appealing is that it is not limited to one part of the profession. Conveyancers, suppliers, search providers and other professionals connected to the property sector are all welcome to take part.

In many ways, the idea captures the spirit of the modern conveyancing community. Although professionals often work in separate firms and organisations, the process of buying and selling property relies on collaboration between many different people. A transaction might involve conveyancers, lenders, estate agents, search providers and data specialists, all working together behind the scenes.

Events like this charity walk simply offer an opportunity to see that collaboration in a different setting.
Instead of emails and case files, the conversation takes place on footpaths and mountain trails. Instead of deadlines and completions, the focus shifts toward wellbeing, connection and supporting worthwhile causes.

There is also a growing recognition across the legal and property sectors that wellbeing matters. Conveyancing is widely known to be one of the busiest areas of legal work, with heavy caseloads, tight timelines and constant communication with clients and other professionals. Taking time to step outside that environment, even for a day, can provide a welcome change of pace.

That is one of the reasons why charity initiatives across the sector have gathered momentum in recent years. They bring people together, raise funds for important causes and help remind everyone that the industry is made up of individuals who share many of the same pressures and experiences.

For IPSA members and personal search agents, that sense of community is already familiar. Search professionals work closely with conveyancers every day, often helping to interpret information and clarify local knowledge that supports the legal process. Although much of that work happens quietly in the background, it forms part of the same wider professional network.

The Women in Conveyancing Snowdon hike reflects that same collaborative spirit. It is an event where people from different parts of the industry can meet, walk together and contribute to something positive.

This week on IPSA Kind Of Magic, Gareth Wax will be hosting the discussion, joined by Hamish McLay, Chairman of IPSA. They will be discussing the Snowdon hike and the thinking behind the event alongside Heather Poole-Gleed, Chief Executive of IPSA, who will also be taking part in the climb herself.

Heather’s involvement highlights how initiatives like this reach across the entire property ecosystem. It is not just about raising money, although that remains an important goal. It is also about strengthening the sense of connection between professionals who spend much of their working lives helping property transactions progress.

Sometimes the best conversations happen away from desks and screens.

It will be interesting to hear more about how the event came together, why it matters to the organisers at Women in Conveyancing, and what participants can expect from the Snowdon climb itself.

If the early interest is anything to go by, it promises to be a memorable day for everyone involved.
