The Week Ahead in Podcasts & Articles: w/c 14th July 2025
We’re into mid-July now and the conversations aren’t slowing down. Four episodes this week with a renewed focus on buyer priorities, search professionalism, legal friction, and building safety – each one drawing from the experience of those on the ground. All hosted by Gareth Wax – producer, director and chair – in conversation with myself, conveyancing collaborator Hamish McLay.
Construction Matters – Tuesday July 15th at 1pm
System Failure: Why Construction Is Losing Both Skills and SMEs
This week’s episode tackles the double hit facing UK construction: the deepening skills shortage and the collapse of SME builders. We’ll be joined by Michelle Carr to explore how late payments, poor practices and systemic neglect are pushing out the very firms that train and employ the next generation.
IPSA Kind Of Magic – Wednesday July 16th at 1pm
Buyer Confidence and the Role of a Proper Search Pack
This week, we’re looking at how the right search pack can do more than just tick boxes. A clear, complete, and professionally-prepared pack builds buyer understanding, trust and commitment. It helps reduce fall-throughs and smooth the way to completion. A small difference on paper. A big difference in practice.
Property Quorum – Thursday July 17th at 10am
Buyers Beware, Again? A Growing Grey Area Around Property Advice
This Thursday on Property Quorum, we are once again joined by Juliet Baboolal and Chris Gilesnan to explore "Buyers Beware, Again? A Growing Grey Area Around Property Advice". With TikTok ‘coaches’, WhatsApp groups and influencers in the mix, are buyers and sellers being misled. And who’s liable when it goes wrong?
Cladding Matters – Friday July 18th at 1pm
BSR or Just BS? What’s Really Changed Since Regulation Reform
The Building Safety Regulator was meant to be a turning point. More oversight. Tougher standards. Greater accountability. Yet two years on, what’s actually different? This week’s episode takes stock of what’s improved, what’s lagging behind, and why so many residents still feel stuck in the same old cycle. Stephen Day, still peddling, will be with us.
*Additional guests for podcasts may be revealed as the week progresses.*
