CLADDING MATTERS: "Builders Don't See Ethics Are Part Of The Solution"

Ultra special day with our resident from Royal Artillery Quays, Stephen Day, a campaigner who has been working with the Earl Of Lytton, was podcasting from the House of Lords.

As many of you know, developments to date have demonstrated those involved, whether they be Builders, Developers, or Cladding Manufacturers, do not see that they have a responsibility to ensure residents are in a safe living space without financial encumbrances.

The only way forward is through government intervention and ethical legislation. For the present the solution through legislation is not ethical. It was so quickly thought out, enabling unethical builders and developers to retain materials leaving residents lives at risk because of flammable material. Creating a massive increase in insurance and in some cases big increases in management charges with it.



There are health issues. Imagine knowing you are in a building containing materials similar to those in Grenfell where 72 people lost their lives. Insurers don’t want to touch it and management panels are increasing charges to covering their increased costs. Frightening stuff!

Time to get your emails heading to MPs, Councils, Planning Committees and Councils.

As it happens, Steve has involved himself even more deeply in the campaign for appropriate cladding. Already the chair of the Royal Artillery Quays residents' association, he will be sticking his head above the parapet even further by contesting the West Thamesmead by-election for the Liberal Democrats on December 19th.
